Bullets in Hormuz, but India safe, government gives big update
Amidst the recent firing on two foreign ships in the Strait of Hormuz, the Government of India, while keeping an eye on the situation, has clarified that all the Indian citizens present on these ships are completely safe. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that both these ships are foreign. Although some Indians are also included in their crew.
India’s reaction to the controversial post
He assured that no Indian was harmed and the government is in constant touch with Iran to ensure safe movement of Indian ships. Meanwhile, India’s reaction has also come to light regarding a controversial post shared by US President Donald Trump on social media. In that post, objectionable words were used for India and China. Responding to this, Randhir Jaiswal said that the government has seen the related reports, but has refrained from commenting much on this subject.

The controversy escalated when Trump re-shared an anti-immigration post, in which it was claimed that children born in America acquire citizenship and bring their families from India, China and other countries. The post also alleged that due to new immigrants, the use of English in America is decreasing and their loyalty towards the country is also not the same as before. Besides, the influence of the people of India and China in the employment and immigration system was also talked about.
Political reaction intensified in India
The political reaction in India regarding this comment has also intensified. The Congress party lodged a strong protest calling it an insult to India. The party demanded from Prime Minister Narendra Modi that this issue should be raised strongly with America. Congress also alleged that the government’s silence on such matters is not right and a strict stance should be taken on this matter.
On the other hand, the government has also denied reports claiming that the captain of the Indian-flagged oil tanker had paid for safe passage. Shipping Ministry officials termed these allegations as completely false and said that no Indian ship has made any such payment.
The government has also termed the news related to ‘crypto payment’ viral on social media as fake. A senior official of the ministry clarified that this is completely baseless and Indian ships are traveling safely as per the prescribed rules.
Apart from this, India has welcomed the decision of France, under which from 10 April 2026, Indian citizens will no longer require a transit visa to pass through the international transit area of French airports. This facility will be available to those passengers who stop only in transit in France while traveling to a third country.
