Bihar Farmers Subsidy: A very wonderful and very good news is coming for the farmer brothers of Bihar. Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary on Monday gave a big financial gift to lakhs of farmers of the state. During the year 2025-26, the government has compensated for the loss of crops destroyed due to the terrible storm, untimely rain and hailstorm that occurred in the last weeks of March 2026. Under the Agricultural Input Grant Scheme, the Chief Minister has transferred assistance amounting to more than Rs 200 crore online through Direct Benefit Transfer i.e. DBT to the bank accounts of more than 3.96 lakh affected farmers of the state.

He also addressed the farmers during a special program organized at the Chief Minister’s official residence. The Chief Minister said that nowadays, due to weather and climate change, natural disasters like unseasonal rain, storm and hailstorm occur at any time, due to which our food providers have to suffer huge losses. He assured that the state government of Bihar is fully prepared to provide all possible help from its own resources to its farmer brothers affected by the disaster.

Crops of these 13 districts were completely destroyed

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary made it clear that the purpose of the Agricultural Input Grant Scheme is not just to provide financial help, but to instill a new confidence and stability among the farmers in times of crisis. He also gave the names of those districts where the disaster of March 2026 had created the most havoc. According to government reports, 13 districts of Bihar—Saharsa, Samastipur, Muzaffarpur, Madhepura, Araria, Begusarai, Purnia, Darbhanga, Kishanganj, Khagaria, Madhubani, Supaul and Bhagalpur—had reported crop losses of more than 33 percent.

The Disaster Management Department had earlier released Rs 200 crore to provide immediate relief to the affected farmers. After this, on the demand of the Agriculture Department, the government also approved an additional amount of Rs 60.71 crore. In this way, the government has prepared a huge fund of Rs 260.71 crore to help the farmers. Praising the Central Government, the Chief Minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the welfare of the farmers of the country is being kept at the top. Just two days ago, the money of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi has also been sent to the accounts of farmers. He appealed to all the farmers to join the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana so that 100 percent loss can be compensated at the time of disaster.

Big claim of double engine government and plan to start closed sugar mills

The Chief Minister stressed that this double engine government of the Center and the State is fully committed to increasing the earnings of farmers, securing farming and compensating for the disaster losses. This government money will give farmers the strength to stand in their fields again. Immediately after concluding this programme, the Chief Minister also held a high-level review meeting with the Sugarcane Industry Department. He directed the officers to revive the sugar industry in the state so that investors can be encouraged and the income of sugarcane farmers can be doubled.

There is huge potential for development of sugarcane based industries in Bihar. The Chief Minister has given strict orders to resume industrial activities in the areas of long-closed sugar mills like Raiyam, Sakri, Sasamusa, Marhaura, Motipur, Samastipur, Chakia, Chanpatia and Motihari. The government believes that with the opening of closed mills, local people will get employment on a large scale and farmers will not have to go far to sell their crops.

Preparation to make Champaran the country’s number one sugarcane hub

The biggest focus of Bihar government is now on the area of ​​Champaran. The Chief Minister said that to make Champaran region one of the most prominent sugarcane production areas of the country, the department will have to work on a special action plan. Under this, every step will be taken to increase sugarcane production and provide better market to the farmers. More and more private companies will be attracted for investment through Bihar Sugarcane Industry Promotion Policy-2026. The government is ready to provide all support to strengthen the rural economy and complete modernization of the sugarcane sector.
