Sashastra Seema Bal has announced recruitment (SSB Recruitment 2026) for the posts of Head Constable, Constable (Tradesman and Driver), Sub Inspector and ASI. The total number of vacant posts is 1194. Out of this, there are 827 vacancies for Constable (Tradesman, Driver and Other) posts. There are 233 vacancies for Head Constable, 76 for Head Constable Medical Cadre, 51 for Sub Inspector and 7 for Assistant Sub Inspector.

General, OBC and EWS candidates have to pay a fee of Rs 100 to fill the form. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen and women candidates are exempted from fee payment. Payments will be accepted in online mode only.

Age Limit and Qualification for Head Constable

To apply for the post of Head Constable (Steward), candidates should have 12th pass along with diploma in Kitchen Management or Hotel Management and Catering Technology or Housekeeping. To apply for the post of Head Constable (Communication), it is mandatory for the candidates to have passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Apart from this, one should also have Diploma in Electronics and Communication/Telecommunication/Radio Engineering/Computer Hardware Networking/Information Technology.

To apply for the post of Head Constable (Electrician), one must have passed 10th along with the qualification of Diploma in Electrician. For Head Constable Veterinary, it is mandatory to have passed 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Apart from this, it is also necessary to have Diploma in Veterinary/Livestock Farming/Animal Husbandry. The only prescribed age limit for Head Constable Electrician is maximum 25 years. Whereas the age limit prescribed for the remaining posts is maximum 27 years.

Know eligibility for constable post

10th pass candidates can apply for the post of constable. For driver trade, it is mandatory for the candidates to have Heavy Motor Vehicle Driving License. For Veterinary, one should have experience in the relevant field. For Carpenter/Blacksmith/Painter, ITI certificate/vocational training will be required. The age limit prescribed for the post of Constable Driver is maximum 27 years. The age limit for Veterinary and Carpenter/Blacksmith/Painter has been fixed at 25 years. The age limit prescribed for constable posts of other trades is maximum 23 years.

Eligibility for ASI and SI

• For the post of ASI, along with 12th pass, one should also have the qualification of 2 year diploma in the relevant field. It is also necessary to have at least 1 year experience in the relevant field. The prescribed age limit is minimum 18 years and maximum 27 years.
• To apply for the post of SI (Staff Nurse), it is mandatory for the candidates to have 12th pass as well as Diploma in General Nursing and Midwifery. For SI (Pioneer), one should have Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. For ASI (Communication), it is mandatory to have graduation degree in Electronics & Communication/Computer Science/IT or 12th pass with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Maximum age limit is 30 years.

Selection Process and Salary

Candidates will be selected on the basis of Physical Efficiency Test, Physical Standard Test, Written Examination, Skill Test/Typing Test, Document Verification and Medical Examination. The selection process will also depend on the post. After appointment to the post of Head Constable, the monthly salary will range from Rs 25,500 to Rs 81,100. After appointment as constable, candidates will be given a salary ranging from Rs 21,700 to Rs 69,100. After appointment to the post of Sub Inspector, the basic pay will range from Rs 35,400 to Rs 1,12,400. After appointment to the post of Assistant Sub Inspector, one can get basic pay ranging from Rs 29,200 to Rs 92,300.
