Bumrah chased away Yuvraj Singh from the net session, Yuvi returned after winning the battle with cancer and remembered that experience.

News India Live, Digital Desk: Team India’s legendary all-rounder and hero of two World Cups, Yuvraj Singh, has made such a revelation about Jasprit Bumrah, which has created a stir in the cricket world. Yuvi recalled the period when he was trying to return to the field after defeating a deadly disease like cancer. During the same time in the net session, he encountered a skinny 16 year old boy whose speed and bounce of the balls had made Sixer King sweat. That boy was none other than today’s ‘Yorker King’ Jasprit Bumrah.

‘Kid! Whoever you are, stop’: That funny story of Yuvi

During a conversation with former England captain Michael Vaughan on ‘The Overlap’ podcast, Yuvraj Singh recalled that incident of 2013. Yuvraj told, “When I was preparing to return to Team India after cancer, Bumrah must have been around 16-17 years old. He was bowling so fast in the nets that I could not understand what was happening. I shouted – ‘I want this kid out of the nets, brother! You stop bowling to me.'” Yuvi jokingly said that he was just trying to get his rhythm back at that time, But Bumrah’s lethal balls did not allow him to enter the ‘zone’.

Terror was more important than skill: Bumrah used to run with long run-ups then.

Describing the difference between today’s Bumrah and the 16-year-old Bumrah, Yuvraj said that at that time he did not have the variety and skills that he has today, but his speed was extraordinary. According to Yuvraj, “Bumrah’s run-up was very long at that time. Because of his strange action, the ‘deceptive bounce’ he got in the balls used to hit straight on the ribs. The batsmen do not like such bowling at all.” Yuvraj told that later Bumrah himself had reminded him of the story of how Yuvi had refused to bowl to him.

Bumrah is the most feared bowler in the world today: Salute to Yuvraj

Yuvraj Singh praised Bumrah’s current performance and called him the best bowler in modern cricket. Yuvi said, “In today’s time, no batsman wants to take risk against Bumrah. They are afraid of losing their wicket, so they just try to rotate the strike. As soon as any batsman thinks of attacking them, Bumrah traps him with his cleverness.” Recently, Bumrah’s role in helping India win the T20 World Cup has proved why he is the world’s number-1 match winner.
