Bus falls into ditch in Jammu’s Udhampur, 15 dead, 20 injured

A horrific accident occurred when a bus fell into a ditch in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. 15 people died and 20 others were injured in the accident. The injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital. Giving information, officials said that the accident happened at around 10 am in the morning at a dangerous turn on the hilly road in Ram Nagar area.

 

The bus met with an accident while turning at a turn. Officials present at the spot said that the rescue operation is going on. Officials said a total of 15 bodies were recovered from the wreckage of the vehicle while 20 injured were taken to hospital, many of whom are said to be in critical condition. In such a situation, the death toll may increase. Officials said the accident occurred when the bus was going from a remote village to Udhampur.

Army deployed to help

In the rescue operation, the Army, police and local people helped in evacuating the injured. Union Minister Jitendra Singh has expressed deep sorrow over this accident. After talking to the district officials, he assured the people that they are being given all possible help. He said that arrangements are being made to airlift the seriously injured.

‘All possible help will be given’

The minister said, ‘The rescue operation has been started immediately. Heavy losses are expected. Every possible help is being provided. The injured will be shifted for medical help. Arrangements are being made to airlift the seriously injured.
