‘Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture’ took the initiative

Pimpri: Pune and industrial areas in Pimpri-Chinchwad (Business News) is implementing an ambitious project in Pune that will instill pride in Shirpecha and empower micro, small entrepreneurs to survive in the global competition. The ‘Maratha Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture’ (MCCIA) has taken the initiative to set up the state’s first ‘Drone Cluster’ and state-of-the-art ‘Food Processing Facility Centre’, these projects will be operational by March 2027.

Direct benefit to 200 micro entrepreneurs

Both these clusters will directly benefit around 200 micro and small entrepreneurs in the first phase. In particular, drone and food processing startups, agricultural manufacturing companies and supply chain industries will have access to testing facilities, research and development, prototype design and expert guidance under one roof. This will help the new entrepreneurs to get the technical support they need before entering the market and create massive employment. This drone cluster is going to be realized in the branch of ‘MCCIA’ in Pimpri Industrial Estate.

Drone Cluster: A New Hub of Technology

Key Features: It will have state-of-the-art machinery for drone spare parts, design, research and testing.
Scope: Considering the growing demand for drones in defense, agriculture, disaster management, surveying and transportation sectors, the center will be a milestone for the industrial progress of the state.

Food Processing Technology Center in Hadapsar

On the other hand, an integrated facility center for agriculture and food processing industries will be set up at the Maratha Chamber office in Hadapsar. It will have facilities for quality inspection and preliminary testing required for export. This will help entrepreneurs and startups in rural areas to improve the quality of their products.

Project Finance and Phases

This project is being implemented under MSSE-CDP scheme.
Funding: For projects up to 10 crores, the share of central and state governments can be up to about 95 percent. So in a big project worth 30 crores, the share of the government will be at least 70 percent.
Next Process: MCCIA will soon submit a detailed report of both these clusters to the Industries Department of the State Government. After that the process of approval of the Centre, disbursement of funds and tendering for machinery will be carried out.

“Site Demand for Sewage Treatment Plant”

The sewage treatment plant proposed for micro industries in Bhosari area has been shifted due to lack of space. ‘MCCIA’ has started follow-up with MIDC so that this vacant space can be utilized for providing better common facilities to the industries.

Projects in view:

Total Beneficiaries: 100 to 200 entrepreneurs in the first phase.
Expected Commencement: By end of March 2027.
Government share: 70 percent participation in the project of Rs.30 crores.
Centers: Pimpri (Drones) and Hadapsar (Food Processing).
