Buying it thinking it is cheap may turn out to be expensive! Government alerts regarding online shopping!

Tezzbuzz Desk- The growing trend of online shopping is increasingly attracting people towards big discounts and attractive offers. But sometimes these cheap offers can prove costly to the customers. The Consumer Affairs Department has cautioned people that it is very important to carefully check all the terms and conditions of the offer and the final bill before making a purchase on any e-commerce platform. The department has warned that in many cases, hidden charges are added later, due to which the customer has to pay more than expected.

Warning issued under “Jaago Grahak Jaago” campaign

As part of the government’s “Jaago Grahak Jaago” campaign, the Department of Consumer Affairs has issued an awareness message on social media. It says that it is not wise to order immediately just after seeing the huge discount. On many e-commerce websites and apps, delivery charges, platform fees, taxes and other additional charges are also added to the offers, which may not be apparent initially.

The department has appealed to the customers to read the terms and conditions of any offer before taking advantage of it, so that they do not have to face any problem or financial loss later.

Hidden charges may increase in final bill

During online shopping, customers are often happy to see the initial price, but at the time of payment the final bill increases significantly. This is due to hidden charges, which may include delivery fees, handling charges, platform fees and taxes. The government says that many customers do not read the terms of the offer properly, due to which they have to pay extra later. In such a situation, before purchasing any product, it is important to know about all its charges.

For complaint contact 1915 helpline

The Department of Consumer Affairs has also clarified that if a customer does not get proper assistance from an e-commerce platform, he can contact the National Consumer Helpline (NCH).

Customers can register their complaint by calling the helpline number 1915. Apart from this, help can also be taken by sending a message on WhatsApp number 8800001915. The department says that the National Consumer Helpline helps consumers in solving their problems and also contacts the concerned company if needed.

Advice given to become a wise customer

The government has appealed to people to check the final bill carefully before making online payment. According to the department, an informed customer is one who does not make a decision just by looking at attractive discounts, but makes a purchase after understanding every little detail.

It was also said that if an offer appears more attractive than necessary, then its terms and conditions should be read more carefully. Correct information and vigilance is the best way to avoid online fraud and extra expenses.
