Bye Election 2026: Bye Election 2026: Sunetra Pawar ahead in Baramati, BJP leads in 5 out of these 7 seats.

The counting of votes for the by-elections held on seven assembly seats in five states has started on Monday morning. In the initial trends, NCP’s Sunetra Pawar is leading from Baramati seat of Maharashtra, while BJP candidate is leading in Rahuri. Counting of votes is also going on on the seats of Karnataka, Gujarat, Nagaland and Tripura.

Baramati seat is Ajit Pawar’s traditional seat.

From Baramati seat, Sunetra Pawar has taken a lead of about 6500 votes in the first round. This seat has been the traditional seat of late leader Ajit Pawar. In the by-election held after his death, the opposition did not field a candidate, although independent candidates are in the fray. There was about 58% voting here.

Kardile ahead on Rahuri seat

In Rahuri, BJP’s Akshay Kardile is ahead by about 460 votes in the initial trends. This by-election was conducted after the death of BJP MLA Shivaji Kardile. There are also candidates from NCP (SP) and Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi in the contest.

Karnataka – Bagalkot and Davanagere South

There is a direct contest between Congress and BJP on both the seats in Karnataka. These by-elections have taken place due to the demise of senior MLAs. In Bagalkot, Congress has given ticket to the late MLA’s son, while in Davanagere South too, political legacy is at stake.

Tripura – Dharmanagar seat

About 80% voting was recorded in Dharmanagar seat. This seat had become vacant after the death of Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen. A large participation of women voters was also seen here.

Gujarat – Umreth seat

There is a direct contest between BJP and Congress on Umreth seat. This by-election took place after the death of BJP MLA Govind Parmar. About 59% voting took place here and counting of votes is going on amid tight security.

Nagaland – Koridang seat

Strict security arrangements have been made for counting of votes at Koridang seat. Multi-layered security is in place at the counting center under the supervision of CAPF and state police.
