California Mpox : The United States has confirmed its first known case of clade 1 mpox, a more serious strain of the virus, in California, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The case, reported Saturday, has raised concerns, although the CDC stressed that the risk to the public is low.

The agency advised people to avoid close contact with people with symptoms of mumps or the materials they used and to get vaccinated. People with mumps often develop a rash that may appear on the arms, legs, chest, face, mouth, and near the genitals. The incubation period is three to 17 days.
