Cameron Green Likely to Bowl for KKR’s Next Clash Against LSG

The Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is expected to bowl for Kolkata Knight Riders in their upcoming game against Lucknow Super Giants at thier home ground, the Eden Gardens, on Thursday.

Green, who did not bowl in KKR’s first two IPL 2026 games against the Mumbai Indians and the Sunrisers Hyderabad, where they lost both games. Their third game against the Punjab Kings washed out after playing 3.4 overs in the first innings of the game.

Ahead of the start of the IPL 2026, Cricket Australia informed KKR that Cameron Green would start the season as a specialist batter.

“Cameron has a lower-back injury, which is being managed, but requires him to abstain from bowling for a short period,” said Cricket Australia.

“Cameron is currently rebuilding his bowling loads in India with a view to return in around 10-12 days’ time.”

With KKR set to play in the 15th game of the IPL 2026 schedule, more than ten days have passed since the update, it is understand that Green is ready to bowl in competitive season.

Cameron Green bowling has affected KKR’s plans especially with the number of their main bowlers sidelined for one reason or another.

Kolkata Knight Riders have a depleted bowling attack with Bangladesh cricketer Mustafizur Rahman had been removed from the squad ahead of the start, both Harshit Rana and Akash Deep were ruled out with injuries.

With Sunil Narine missed the previous game because of an illness, and Varun Chakravarthy was sidelined due to hand injury.

Cameron Green who joined KKR for a record breaking price of INR 25.20 crore, at the highest price for an overseas player even at an IPL auction, has scored 18, 2 and 4 in his three innings.

“One of those dismissals has been a run out (against SRH), not a part of his fault. Still, he’s missed out twice. There’s a bit of panic, he’s not looking the same as the past,” said Aaron Finch.

“Remember when he was at the top of the order for MI – how he had a totally different intent. He was imposing at the crease. Now he looks tentative. Don’t push him down. Push him either up the order, or give him a rest.”

With Kolkata Knight Riders set to field against LSG on April 09 at Eden Gardens, it will be interesting to see if Cameron Green is set to bowl.
