IPL 2026 Auction: Australian all-rounder Cameron Green has created history in the mini auction of IPL 2026. Kolkata Knight Riders included him in their team by making a huge bid of Rs 25.20 crore. With this he has become the most expensive foreign player in IPL history.

But the special thing is that even after making such a huge record bid in the mini auction, Cameron Green will get only Rs 18 crore. Let us know why this is so and where will the remaining Rs 7.20 crore go.

Why will Rs 7.20 crore be deducted?

BCCI has implemented a new ‘maximum fee’ rule for foreign players. This rule has been specially made to check the rising prices of foreign players in mini auction and for the benefit of Indian players. Under this rule, the salary of a foreign player cannot exceed a certain limit. This limit is of 18 crores. Therefore, the maximum salary of Cameron Green has been fixed at Rs 18 crore only.

What will happen to the remaining money?

Kolkata Knight Riders will not get any exemption. Only Rs 25.20 crore will be deducted from his purse. The amount above Green’s salary (18 crores) i.e. Rs 7.20 crores, will go directly to BCCI. This money will be used for ‘Player Welfare Programme’. Australia’s Cameron Green has previously played for Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
