The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the Team of the Tournament for the T20 World Cup 2026. The next day after the end of the tournament, ICC announced the names of 12 players who have got a place in this team. Surprisingly, Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav has been left out of this team. Even though Surya did not look his best with the bat in this tournament, his captaincy was tremendous, due to which India defended its title.
Surya scored 242 runs in 9 matches. During this period his strike rate was 136.72. He was out for a golden duck in the final against New Zealand. Another surprising thing is that no player from the Kiwi team that played the final has been included in the ICC team. ICC has appointed Aiden Markram as the captain. Under the captaincy of Markram, South Africa had reached the semi-finals. Markram scored 286 runs in 8 matches at a strike rate of 165.31 in the tournament.

Entry of these Indian players
Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah have been included in the ICC Team of the Tournament. Sanju played only 5 matches in this tournament and he was the batsman who scored the most runs (321) for India. After him, Ishan Kishan (317) was at second place. Apart from scoring 217 runs, Hardik Pandya also took 9 wickets. Whereas Bumrah took 14 wickets in 8 matches. He was jointly number-1 with Varun Chakraborty in the list of bowlers who took the most wickets in the tournament. Shivam Dubey, who performed well throughout the tournament, has not been included in this team.

Responsibility of opening given to Pakistani batsman
Pakistan’s Sahibzada Farhan, the highest scorer (383) of T20 World Cup 2026, has been selected as the opener. The second opener Sanju has been kept with him. Ishan Kishan has been given the responsibility of number-3. ICC has included two players each from England and South Africa in the Team of the Tournament. There is one player each from Pakistan, Zimbabwe, West Indies and America.
