Car fell into canal due to dense fog, teacher couple died on the spot
New Delhi:Two government school teachers were killed in a tragic road accident in Punjab’s Moga district on Sunday morning when their car fell into a canal due to dense fog. The tragic accident happened when the couple were on their way to their destination for election duty. Police confirmed the incident and said that both of them died on the spot.
How did the accident happen?
According to the police and local sources, there was dense fog in the morning, due to which the ability to see ahead on the road was greatly reduced. Meanwhile, Jas Karan Singh was driving the car to drop his wife Kamaljeet Kaur to the polling station of village Sangatpura for her Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti election duty. Suddenly the vehicle went out of control and fell into the canal flowing on the roadside. Both of them were taken out of the car by the local people and relief workers, but they had already died.
The couple had left for duty in the morning. Jaskaran Singh, who was serving as an English master in a government school, was originally a resident of Mansa district, while Kamaljeet Kaur was also a government teacher. Police said that visibility was severely low due to dense fog, due to which the driver could not judge the road conditions and the car fell straight into the canal.
administrative action
As soon as the information about the accident was received, the local police and administration reached the spot and took out the bodies of both of them from the canal and sent them for post-mortem. The people nearby are shocked by this accident and are demanding the administration to install safety railings or signal lights on the roadside so that such accidents can be prevented in future.
Other fog related accidents in the last two days
It is noteworthy that within the last two days, the number of road accidents has increased due to dense fog in many parts of North India. Due to low visibility in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi-NCR, incidents of vehicle collision, overturning and slipping from the road have been reported at many places. In some cases, people have lost their lives, while many injured are admitted in hospitals. The administration is continuously appealing to the drivers to be careful, drive slowly and use fog lights.
According to experts, dense fog in winter can be extremely dangerous for road trips. Low visibility can cause vehicles to lose control, which increases the chances of accidents. They have been told that it is very important to drive slowly, use fog lights and maintain a safe distance.
