Car, Rs 55 lakh… RCB won IPL trophy but Vaibhav Suryavanshi looted the party
The final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 was played in Ahmedabad on Sunday (31), in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) won the title for the second consecutive time by defeating Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets. When the awards ceremony took place after RCB’s victory, Rajasthan Royals (RR) young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the show. During the awards ceremony, Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s name was echoing everywhere in the Narendra Modi Stadium. Vaibhav won a total of 5 awards including Orange Cap, Most Valuable Player (MVP) and Emerging Player.
15-year-old Vaibhav scored a total of 776 runs in 16 matches this season at an unmatched average of 48.50 and a brilliant strike rate of 237.30. However, despite his miraculous performance, RR team could not reach the finals. RR had to face defeat at the hands of Gujarat Titans in Qualifier 2. Even though Vaibhav’s team could not reach the title match, they made such a splash throughout the season that awards were showered on them.

Vaibhav won the car
Left-handed batsman Vaibhav was awarded the ‘Super Strike of the Season’ award for his explosive strike rate. He also won a Tata Sierra car as a prize. For this award, only those batsmen were shortlisted who played at least 7 matches and faced 100 balls. Vaibhav (237.30) topped this list. He was followed by Finn Allen (214.11), Priyansh Arya (211.62) and Abhishek Sharma (204.72).
Vaibhav was named ‘Emerging Player of the Season’ for his memorable performance. For this award, only those players were shortlisted, who were born after April 1, 2000, who had played less than 25 IPL matches before this season and who have not played international cricket till now. Players like Priyansh Arya and Prince Yadav were also in the race to win this award, but Vaibhav came out ahead. He also received the Orange Cap award for most runs and most sixes.

Vaibhav also won the MVP award of IPL 2026 in the ceremony. This is the biggest individual award of any IPL season. He defeated Gujarat Titans fast bowler Kagiso Rabada in the race to become the best player of the season with 436.5 points. Vaibhav received Rs 15 lakh for MVP, while Rs 10 lakh each for the other awards.
