Carrick expects clarity on Manchester United future in ‘coming days’

Michael Carrick said he expects his future as Manchester United manager to be clarified this week amid reports that he will sign a two-year deal to remain at the club.

A 3-2 victory over Nottingham Forest on Sunday secured third place in the Premier League for the Red Devils.

Carrick is set to be rewarded for his impact since taking over in January by being handed the job permanently.

“Over the coming days there will be clarity in the situation. Today, what was important was the game, getting the right result, and some individuals as well,” said the former United and England midfielder.

“Whatever news there is going to be, I’m sure you will get it in a few days.”

In an address to the fans after United’s final home game of the season, Carrick hinted that he will remain in charge.

“We’ve had some big moments, big goals and big results in this place over the last few months,” he said.

“Hopefully there will be a few more of them.”
