Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick has shared his thoughts on Jadon Sancho’s difficult spell at the club, admitting that not every transfer works out the way fans expect.
Sancho, who is currently on loan at Aston Villa, struggled to establish himself consistently during his time at Old Trafford despite arriving with high expectations. The England winger joined United as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents, but his performances often fell short of the levels he displayed earlier in his career.
Speaking about the situation, Carrick acknowledged that such outcomes are common in football and should not come as a surprise.
“You can never be surprised with anything in football,” Carrick said. “I think it’s one of those things. Sometimes you come to a club, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t quite work. That’s natural, it happens at every club.”
