Case of deaths due to contaminated water in Indore’s Bhagirathpura, 8 lost their lives, more than 66 admitted to hospital.
Tezzbuzz Desk- The disease spread due to drinking contaminated water has taken a serious form in Bhagirathpura area of Indore, which is counted among the cleanest cities of the country. So far 8 people have died in this incident, while more than 66 people are admitted in different hospitals and their treatment is going on. Considering the situation in the area, the administration and health department are on alert mode.
It has been told by the administration that out of the deaths so far, 3 people died due to disease spread by contaminated water, while 5 people have been confirmed to have died due to cardiac attack. However, local people say that a large number of people fell ill after drinking contaminated water and after this the series of deaths started.
Politics has also intensified regarding this matter. Congress state president Jitu Patwari launched a scathing attack on the government and BJP on social media platform X. He wrote that the death of people in Indore due to drinking contaminated water is very sad and worrying and it shows the failure of the government. He alleged that innocent people were losing their lives due to negligence and corruption.
Jitu Patwari further said that Indore even gave MP, MLA, Mayor and Minister to BJP, yet the city residents could not get safe drinking water. He called it a betrayal of the public.
The condition of the people who fell ill in Bhagirathpura is being monitored. Among the deceased, the names of Nandlal Pal, Tara Bai, Uma Kori, Gomti Rawat, Seema Prajapati, Manjulata Digambar Wadhe, Urmila Yadav and Santosh Bicholia have been revealed. Late night, the Mayor of Indore officially confirmed three deaths.
Seeing the seriousness of the matter, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has taken cognizance and suspended Zonal Officer Shaligram Shitole and Assistant Engineer in Charge (PHE) Yogesh Joshi. Along with this, a three-member inquiry committee has been formed, which will investigate the entire matter. The Chief Minister has also announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased.
There has been a rapid increase in the cases of vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ache and weakness in the area. According to the administration, about two thousand people may be affected by this. 25 to 30 teams of the health department are conducting door-to-door surveys. More than 1100 houses have been inspected so far. At present, people have been advised to drink boiled water. Water samples have been sent for testing, the report of which is likely to come in 48 hours.
