Case of forced marriage in Dhanrua in discussion, video goes viral on social media
Dhanrua. Cases of forced marriage i.e. forced marriage have been coming to light from time to time in Bihar. In this context, a case related to Nasratpur village under Dhanrua police station area of Patna district has become a topic of discussion these days. A video related to forced marriage is becoming increasingly viral on social media, due to which various kinds of discussions are taking place in the area.
According to the information, the case is being reported from Nasratpur village of Dhanrua police station area. In a viral video, it is being claimed that a young man was forced to marry. It is being told that the young man was taken from Nasratpur village and got married in a temple in Bhavani Bigha village under Karayaparsurai police station area of Nalanda district.
According to sources, the girl is said to be related to the family of Ravindra Prasad, resident of Ritu Bigha village. However, the matter is being investigated by the police and official confirmation is yet to be done.
Dhanrua police station in-charge Amit Kumar said that a case has been registered against four people by the youth’s father. The police is taking the entire matter seriously and is busy investigating. The viral video is also being investigated.
Incidents of forced marriage have been reported in Bihar before also. In many cases, there have been allegations of boys getting married by coaxing, feeding them intoxicants or putting pressure on them. However, the truth of each case becomes clear only after investigation.
Forced marriages are not legally recognized. Patna High Court has also made it clear in one of its decisions that a marriage conducted under pressure, threat or at gunpoint will not be considered a valid marriage.
At present, Dhanrua police is engaged in the investigation of the case and the concerned parties are being interrogated.
