Cashless treatment of ₹ 10 lakh under Chief Minister Health Scheme will start from January 22, 2026: Dr. Balbir Singh

Chandigarh : Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh has announced that the much awaited ‘Mukhyamantri Swasthya Yojana’ of the state government will be formally launched on 22nd. Under this scheme, cashless medical treatment up to Rs 10 lakh will be provided to the citizens of the state. Dr. Balbir Singh said that this scheme fulfills the promise of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, in which it was said to provide better health services to every citizen without financial pressure.

From treatment to health card, everything is free
In the press conference held at the party office, the Health Minister clarified that under this scheme, the state government will bear the entire expense from making health card to treatment. He bluntly said that at any stage, be it registration or hospital treatment, no person or agency will be allowed to take even a single rupee. If someone asks for money, he will have to face the law.

Government’s strict stance on misuse
Dr. Balbir Singh also said that the government has already taken strict action against attempts to misuse the scheme. Complaints were received from Muktsar and Mansa districts that some people were illegally charging Rs 50 in the name of making health cards. After investigation, the concerned persons were immediately suspended, their licenses were canceled and an FIR has also been lodged against them. The Health Minister said that irregularities in public welfare schemes will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Easy and transparent process of registration
The government has made special arrangements to simplify the process of registration of the scheme. Youth Club volunteers will go door-to-door and distribute tokens to the people. After getting the token, citizens will have to go to the designated centers with Aadhar Card and Voter ID and get a free health card made. The minister said that this process will be completely transparent and the common people will not be allowed to face any kind of problem.

Strict action will be taken against those who exploit
The Health Minister clearly warned that strict action will continue against those who exploit people in the name of welfare scheme. He assured that the government stands with the people and those trying to cheat anyone will not be spared.

Honor government’s commitment to health
Dr. Balbir Singh said that the priority of the government is to create such a health system where treatment does not become a burden on anyone’s pocket. Chief Minister Health Scheme is a big step in this direction, which will bring relief not only to the poor but also to the middle class. He reiterated that this scheme is for all citizens, it is completely free and it is the right of every person to avail its benefits.
