CBI raid in Mohali’s vigilance office; Many middlemen arrested, case related to bribe of Rs 20 lakh
The concerned officer of the Vigilance Department is said to be absconding at present.
New Delhi. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested several middlemen who were allegedly taking bribe in the name of a senior officer of the department, in a late night raid at the Vigilance Office in Mohali, Punjab. The officers provided this information.
Officials said that the CBI team conducted this raid in connection with the investigation into the allegation of taking bribe of about Rs 20 lakh. He informed that these arrested “middlemen” were also provided police protection by the Punjab government.
The concerned officer of the Vigilance Department is said to be absconding at present and is not even responding to phone calls. The CBI team reached the Vigilance office late on Monday night.
Meanwhile, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia targeted the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government on ‘X’ over this action taken against alleged bribery.
Majithia said, layers of corruption are now being exposed from top to bottom in Punjab… Bribery worth about Rs 20 lakh is being investigated and it is being told that the central agency has recovered Rs 13 lakh during the operation. He said that Bhagwant Mann has no moral right to continue on the post of Chief Minister and Home Minister.
