CBSE Board Exam 2026 starts, 43 lakh students appear
CBSE Board Exam 2026 has started from today, in which more than 43 lakh students are appearing. Thousands of examination centers are active for 10th and 12th in this session. On the first day, papers of Mathematics in class 10th and Biotechnology, Business Studies and Entrepreneurship in class 12th were taken. The board has made special preparations on discipline, time management and digital assessment.
CBSE Board Exam 2026: It has started from today with more than 43 lakh students across the country. The exam is being conducted for classes 10th and 12th, in which class 10th students appeared for Mathematics and class 12th students for Biotechnology, Business Studies and Entrepreneurship. 8,074 centers have been created for class 10th and 7,574 centers for class 12th. The board has issued guidelines to ensure safety, timing and discipline of students and has also started digital evaluation of answer sheets.
Data of examination centers and students
In this session, 8,074 examination centers have been created for class 10th and 7,574 for class 12th. There are about 25 lakh students in class 10th and about 18.5 lakh students in class 12th. According to gender-based data, 14 lakh boys and 10.9 lakh girls are appearing for class 10th exam, while 10.2 lakh boys and 8.3 lakh girls are appearing for class 12th.
The administrative machinery is fully activated, so that the examination can be conducted in a fair and safe manner. Clear instructions have been issued to the students to reach the center on time and follow all the guidelines.
Challenge and changes of the first day
Mathematics paper has been set for class 10 students on the first day, which is generally considered a difficult subject. Earlier this paper used to be held in the middle or end of the examination, but this time the schedule was changed.
Class 12 students appeared for the papers of Biotechnology, Business Studies and Entrepreneurship on the initial day. The board has directed the students to carry the admit card well in time and follow the examination discipline.
Rules, Dress Code and Digital Assessment
The gates of the examination centers will be closed at 10 am. Students have been advised to reach before time. The instruction to come in school uniform is mandatory for regular students, while private candidates are allowed to wear light colored clothes.
This year, Class 12 answer sheets will be evaluated through the ‘on-screen marking’ system. Answer sheets will be scanned and made available to teachers through digital medium, which will make the testing process more transparent and systematic.
Double chance and relief for students
Class 10th students will get the opportunity to appear for the board exam twice. This step has been taken to reduce the pressure on students and for better performance. Also, two chances are ensured for students who are absent or ill.
