CBSE board exams 2026 begins today; check do’s and don’ts, entry rules, dress code guidelines

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will commence the Class 10, Class 12 board exams 2026 from today, February 17 with lakhs of students set to appear across the country. As the exams begin the board has laid down a comprehensive set of do’s and don’ts to ensure smooth and fair conduct at all exam centres.

With heightened focus on punctuality, discipline and adherence to rules students have been advised to carefully follow all exam-day instructions. Failure to comply with guidelines may lead to disqualification or denial of entry to the exam hall.

CBSE Board Exam Day Do’s: What students must follow

  • Students must carry a printed copy of their CBSE admit card. Entry will not be permitted without it.
  • Students need to wear proper school uniform and carry their school identity card.
  • Students should arrive at the exam centre at least 30 minutes before the reporting time to avoid last-minute stress.
  • Utilise the 15-minute reading time to thoroughly review the question paper before writing answers.
  • Students need to cooperate with exam staff and maintain decorum inside the hall.
  • The board has also advised students to carry only permitted stationery items and essential materials as mentioned on the admit card.

CBSE exam day don’ts

  • Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators or any electronic gadgets are strictly banned.
  • Any attempt to cheat, exchange papers or communicate with other students will invite strict disciplinary action.
  • Students arriving after the designated entry time will not be allowed inside the exam centre.
  • All rough work must be done only on sheets provided at the centre.

CBSE has pointed out that exam centres are under surveillance and any violation of rules will be dealt with firmly as per board regulations. As the board exams begin, students must remain calm, follow instructions carefully and focus on time management to perform the best.
