CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2026 – On-Screen Marking System Launched cbse.gov.in

CBSE Class 12 Board Exams 2026: The Central Board of Secondary Education will start using a different method for evaluating the answer sheets of Class 12 board exams from 2026. The Central Board of Secondary Education will adopt a digital on-screen marking system for the 2026 board exams, replacing the current manual evaluation method using physical answer sheets. The Central Board of Secondary Education is using this initiative to improve its evaluation methodology through more efficient, accurate and transparent methods.

What is on-screen marking?
The answer sheets of the students will be scanned, creating digital copies of them through on-screen marking immediately after the examination. The scanned copies will then be transferred to an Internet-based secure online system. The examiners will evaluate the answers of the students through computer without using physical answer sheets.

Teachers will log into the system using their identity cards and award marks digitally.

How will the new system work
After the completion of class 12 exams the process will start with the following steps:

  • All answer sheets will be scanned.
  • The digital copies will be uploaded to a central portal.
  • The examiner will evaluate the answers on the screen.
  • The marks will be entered directly into the system.

This method eliminates the need for physical delivery of answer sheets to the evaluation centres.
