Middle East crisis: CBSE postpones 12th board exams in Gulf countries including Qatar, review will be held again on March 14
CBSE Board Exam Deferred In Middle East: The impact of the rapidly deteriorating security situation in the Middle East is now clearly visible on the education of Indian students living there. In view of the increasing tension and unstable situation in the region, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken an important decision to postpone the Class 12 board examinations to be held in the Gulf countries for the time being.
The Board has taken this decision after assessing the seriousness of the current circumstances and giving priority to the safety of the students. According to CBSE, the examinations have been postponed till the security situation in the Gulf region becomes normal, so that no student or school faces any risk.
Exams postponed till March 16 in Qatar
According to the latest circular issued by the board, the Indian Embassy in Qatar has postponed the Class 12 examinations scheduled to be held between March 12 and March 16 in affiliated schools based in Doha. The board has clarified that the new dates for these examinations will be announced soon. The board will review the situation once again on March 14, after which a final decision will be taken on the papers to be held after March 16.

Ban on examinations in entire Gulf region
This is not limited to Qatar only. Earlier, in an advisory issued on March 7, CBSE had informed about postponing the examinations to be held on March 9, 10 and 11 in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Saudi Arabia and UAE, other countries affected by the Middle East crisis. The Board is continuously reviewing the situation considering its sensitivity. Even before this, notices of postponement or cancellation of examinations were issued on March 1, March 3 and March 5.

Instructions for students and parents
CBSE has advised students and parents to rely only on official announcements for any updates related to the examinations and not to pay attention to rumors spreading on social media. Students have been asked to stay in constant touch with their schools so that they can get timely information about the new timetable.
