Big change for daughters: CBSE will set up ‘menstrual health centre’ in every school, know the reason behind it

CBSE Set Up Menstrual Health Centers In Every School: Central Board of Secondary Education i.e. CBSE has announced a big change for girls. To provide better health facilities to girl students and create a safe environment in schools, it has been announced to set up ‘Menstrual Health Centre’ in every school. The board has also issued instructions to all schools to make menstrual health centres. This decision has come after the order of the Supreme Court.

In its order, CBSE has also made it clear that merely providing facilities is not enough. It is also very important to make students aware on these subjects. For this, health sessions, puberty education and gender sensitivity discussions will be organized from time to time. Its objective is that students understand this subject and eliminate hesitation.

CBSE has made some important rules for schools based on the instructions of the Ministry of Education, under which necessary facilities will be provided to the girl students. Sanitary napkins will be easily available here. Apart from this, special care will be taken of cleanliness. Menstrual health centers will also be set up in schools and it will be mandatory to make arrangements for proper disposal of menstrual waste.

Programs will be organized to increase awareness related to menstruation

Schools will have to organize programs to increase awareness related to menstruation. Open discussion will be encouraged as per the guidelines of NCERT and state SCERT, so that students can talk on these topics without hesitation. The aim of this initiative is to create a safe and conscious environment in schools, where girls feel comfortable about their health.

Schools will have to submit reports

For this, the school will also have to give a report on how much work has been done. CBSE has also implemented the reporting system. All schools will have to report every month about the preparations and facilities related to this. The first report will have to be submitted by 31 March 2026 and the second by 30 April 2026.

What has the Supreme Court ordered

Let us tell you that in its order given on January 20, 2026, the Supreme Court had said that it is the fundamental right of girl students to get cleanliness and facilities during menstruation. The court has made it clear that if any school does not have this facility, it will affect the education and self-confidence of girls. Keeping this in mind, the court has directed to build a menstrual health center so that the students do not have to face any kind of problem.
