‘Cease fire at the request of Pakistan’, increasing the discomfort of Delhi, Trump praised Shahbaz-Munir
The second round of Iran-Israel peace talks is going to be held in Islamabad. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump announced an indefinite ceasefire. He credited Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Army Chief Asim Munir for this. Trump said that he announced the cease-fire at the request of Pakistan. According to experts, Pakistan is reaping diplomatic harvest at home amid Middle East war, energy crisis around the world. On the other hand, Delhi is growing uncomfortable with Pakistan’s praise of Modi’s ‘friend’.
The US President said, “Currently, the Iranian government is ambivalent. That is normal. In this situation, the attack on Iran is being suspended until their leadership makes a unified peace proposal, until the two sides conclude meaningful negotiations.” However, Trump has said that the US blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s coastal ports will remain in place. He also said that the US military “will be ready in all other aspects”. Tehran has objected to this ‘Dadagiri’ in Hormuz. They made it clear that they would not agree to a ceasefire on US terms.
Iran’s state TV channel IRIB reported that Tehran will not accept the US (ceasefire) conditions. It is to be noted that America has already started arguing about the second peace meeting. If everything goes well, it will be held in Islamabad. It is heard that US President Donald Trump can also join the meeting. But Iran’s foreign ministry spokesman Ismail Baghai said on Saturday that “no final decision has been taken on participation in the second peace meeting.” According to experts, Ismail’s comments made Iran’s participation in the peace talks more uncertain.
Washington seized two Iranian ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Monday. In this regard, he said, “Such activities of America prove that their government is a terrorist government. Not only that, they are also pirates.” Besides, he also questioned America’s willingness to join the peace talks. According to sources, one of the reasons for Iran’s reluctance to join the peace talks is the US blockade of Hormuz.
On the other hand, the mediator Pakistan said that Tehran has not yet officially announced anything about joining the peace talks. Pak Information Minister Ataullah Tarar wrote on his X handle, ‘It is not yet certain whether Iran will send a delegation to the peace talks in Islamabad or not. Tehran has not officially said anything yet. We are waiting. We are also in regular contact with Iran.
