CEC instructions deal strictly with those who make derogatory remarks towards women News In Hindi: Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar on Friday strongly condemned the indecent remarks made against women leaders during the election campaign and asked officials to take action against such derogatory remarks made by the candidates. Urged to take timely and strict action against, Maharashtra Chief Electoral Office sources told ANI on Friday.
Sources told ANI that during the review meeting with district election officials, police commissioners, SPs, municipal commissioners and returning officers, the CEC expressed concern over the use of derogatory language against the dignity and respect of women.
Political parties and candidates shall refrain from any act, action or statement which is considered prejudicial to the honor and dignity of women.
According to sources, Kumar said that any aspect of the personal life of leaders or workers of other parties, which is not related to public activities, should not be criticized. He said low-level personal attacks should not be made to humiliate rivals.
The Chief Election Commissioner has directed all officers to ensure that timely and strict action is taken against any derogatory remarks made by candidates or political leaders that are prejudicial to the honor and dignity of women and violate the provisions of the Model Code of Conduct.
He expressed hope that all candidates and party leaders will improve their rhetoric and conduct their speeches and public interactions in a manner that shows respect for women.
