Celtics vs Bucks injury report: Giannis out as Boston visits Milwaukee

The Boston Celtics travel to Fiserv Forum on Friday night to face the Milwaukee Bucks, but the injury report will play a major role in the matchup.

Milwaukee will be without Giannis Antetokounmpo, while Boston lists only one player unavailable ahead of the 8:00 p.m. ET tip-off.

The Bucks ruled Antetokounmpo out due to a left knee hyperextension and bone bruise. The two-time MVP averages 27.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 5.4 assists in 36 games this season.

The Bucks also ruled out Kevin Porter Jr. with right knee synovitis and Bobby Portis because of a left wrist sprain. Porter contributes 17.4 points and 7.4 assists per game, while Portis averages 13.7 points and 6.4 rebounds.

Thanasis Antetokounmpo is listed as questionable with a left calf strain. Gary Trent Jr. is also questionable due to a left hip pointer.

Ryan Rollins and Jericho Sims are both expected to play despite minor injuries. Rollins is listed as probable with a right hip strain, while Sims is probable with right patella tendonopathy.

Rollins has been a key perimeter option this season, averaging 17.1 points and 5.6 assists while shooting 40.7 percent from three-point range. Sims provides interior efficiency, shooting 79.3 percent from the field.

Boston enters the game with a shorter injury list. Nikola Vucevic is out with a fracture in his right ring finger.

The veteran center averages 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds in limited action this season. His absence places more rebounding and rim protection responsibilities on Neemias Queta, who averages 8.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.

Boston remains near the top of the Eastern Conference standings with a 51-25 record. The Celtics have won eight of their last 10 games, including a 147-129 victory over the Miami Heat on April 1.

Jaylen Brown leads the team with 28.8 points per game. Derrick White adds 16.8 points and 5.5 assists, while Payton Pritchard averages 17.0 points and 5.1 assists.

Milwaukee enters the matchup at 30-46 and has already been eliminated from postseason contention. The Bucks lost their last game 119-113 to the Houston Rockets on April 1.

The teams have split two meetings this season. Milwaukee won 116-101 on Dec. 11, while Boston responded with a 107-79 victory on Feb. 1.
