Censor dispute of Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayakan’ reaches Supreme Court, makers seek relief regarding release

Tezzbuzz Desk – South superstar Thalapathy Vijay’s much awaited film ‘Jana Nayakan’ remains in the news these days. This film is considered to be the last big film of Vijay’s career, but even before its release, it is stuck in serious legal trouble. The release of the film has been postponed several times and now the matter has directly reached the Supreme Court, due to which the concern of the audience has increased.

In fact, recently the Madras High Court had directed to issue UA certificate to the film. The court had said in its decision that it was against the rules for the chairperson of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to send the film to the revising committee. According to the High Court, once the recommendation for giving the certificate with cuts is made, the authority of the chairperson is lost. After this the manufacturers demanded immediate issuance of the certificate.

However, now the matter has reached the Supreme Court challenging this decision. It has been argued in the petition that it is necessary to follow all the legal procedures before the release of the film and the right to re-review the certification should remain. The Supreme Court has not yet fixed the date of hearing, but this has further increased the uncertainty regarding the release of the film.

Directed by H. Vinoth, ‘Jana Nayakan’ is produced by KVN Productions. Pooja Hegde and Mamita Baiju will be seen in important roles in the film. The makers have prepared to release it in four languages in 22 countries. Now all eyes are on the Supreme Court’s decision, which will decide whether Thalapathy Vijay’s last film will be able to reach theaters on time or not.
