60 percent tax goes to the central government

Out of which, Rs 22,21,340 crore has been deposited in the treasury of the Central Government alone. Whereas state governments have earned Rs 14,37,015 lakh crore by imposing VAT on petrol and diesel. Which simply means that Rs 36.58 lakh crore has been collected by imposing tax on petrol and diesel in 5 financial years, out of which 60 percent has been borne by the Central Government and 40 percent by the State Government.
