Central Committee started investigation in Choithram Mandi Chamber accident case, reached the spot and asked questions to the officers.
The investigation into the tragic chamber accident that took place about ten days ago in Choithram Mandi area has now started at the central level. Two Municipal Corporation employees, Ajay and Karan, were killed in this incident. Considering the seriousness of the matter, a central committee reached Indore on Friday for investigation and inspected the incident site closely.
This team led by Gill, who has the status of Union Minister, reached Mandi located in Rajendra Nagar police station area and inspected the spot. As soon as the information was received, Municipal Corporation officials and Rajendra Nagar police station also reached the spot. The committee members stayed at the spot for about half an hour, collected evidence and asked many questions to the officials regarding the incident.
What did the inquiry committee ask the officials?
The Central Committee asked the Municipal Corporation officers present on the spot that why is the line of the chamber where this accident took place used? He also wanted to know for what purpose the two employees, Ajay and Karan, had reached there on the day of the incident and whether they had safety equipment or not. The committee took detailed information about the entire incident and also interrogated the police. Based on this investigation, a detailed report will be prepared, which will be submitted to the Central and State Governments.
What was the whole matter?
This incident happened last Monday, when sewer cleaning work was going on in Zone-13 area at around 6:30 pm. The chamber was being emptied with a suction tanker. Meanwhile, a part of the pipe used for cleaning fell inside the chamber.
According to the Municipal Corporation, employee Karan allegedly entered the chamber to remove the pipe without informing anyone and fell inside. When he did not get any response, another employee Ajay also entered the chamber to save him, but both of them died due to inhaling poisonous gas.
The government had announced compensation
Immediately after the accident, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav took cognizance of the matter. Following the directions of the Supreme Court in 2023, he had announced financial assistance of Rs 30 lakh each to the families of both the deceased employees. After the incident, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava and Municipal Commissioner Kshitij Singhal and other officials also reached the spot.
