Central government advisory regarding petrol and diesel
New Delhi. Amidst the increasing tension in West Asia, there is concern among people about petrol and diesel in India. In view of this situation, the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has issued an important advisory. The Ministry has clearly said that there is no shortage of fuel in the country and there is no need for people to panic and store petrol, diesel or LPG.
The ministry specifically warned that storing petrol and diesel in open or unsuitable containers and in homes could pose serious safety risks.
Ban on taking fuel in loose containers
The government’s advisory has appealed to consumers not to consume petrol or diesel in bottles, plastic boxes or other unsafe containers. Doing so is not only dangerous but also increases the chances of accidents. The ministry also clarified that fuel is a highly inflammable substance, hence storing it in homes or other places can invite serious accidents.
Strict instructions given to petrol pumps also
Strict instructions have also been issued to petrol pump operators regarding fuel distribution. The government has said that all pumps will have to fully comply with the safety standards. If any violation of rules is found at any petrol pump, strict action will be taken against it.
Indian Oil also issued instructions
State-run oil company Indian Oil Corporation has also directed all its outlets not to sell petrol in bottles, plastic boxes or other unsafe containers. According to the company, in recent times, people at many places are trying to hoard fuel in panic, due to which the crowd at petrol pumps is increasing.
Appeal to avoid rumors
The government has appealed to the people not to pay attention to rumors and buy petrol and diesel in the normal manner. The Ministry says that the fuel supply in the country is completely normal and there is no shortage of any kind. Storing fuel unnecessarily not only increases security risks but can also create artificial crisis situation in the market. Therefore citizens have been advised to behave responsibly.
