LPG News: After the start of the US-Iran war, the Strait of Hormuz was closed by Iran, due to which there was a shortage of oil and gas in countries around the world. Crude oil prices started touching the sky. But now recently both the countries announced a ceasefire of 60 days, due to which the price of crude oil fell drastically. Today on Thursday, the price of crude oil has come around $69 per barrel. The biggest reason for this is the movement of ships from Hormuz.
After the opening of Hormuz, the government has decided to restore LPG supply to pre-crisis levels. The Petroleum Ministry has lifted the restrictions on non-domestic (commercial) packed LPG. Till now the government had imposed many types of restrictions.
Ban on supply of LPG lifted
This order has been issued by Dr. Neeraj Mittal, Secretary of the Petroleum Ministry. The order read, “As you are aware, during the supply disruption due to the West Asia crisis, the supply of commercial packed LPG was reduced to ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG to domestic consumers. It has now been decided that all sector-wise restrictions on the supply of non-domestic packed LPG should be removed and the supply should be restored to pre-crisis levels.”
relaxation up to 50 percent
Apart from this, restrictions on the supply of bulk LPG have also been relaxed to 50% of the pre-crisis consumption level. It is also clarified that data of all commercial/industrial customers should continue to be entered by OMCs in their databases. All three OMCs together can maintain a common database according to the sector. Further, as already instructed, commercial/bulk customers who have shifted to PNG will continue to remain on PNG.

If other LPG customers can avail PNG and shift to PNG or are in the process of shifting to the local PNG network, they will be permanently shifted to PNG. OMCs will ensure that this change continues to happen in PNG in collaboration with CGD companies. A reporting format will be provided to OMCs and CGD companies for sending reports to MOPNG.
