Amidst the ongoing crisis in West Asia, the Central Government informed on Sunday that there has been a decline in domestic LPG refill bookings in the country and it has now reached about 77 lakh whereas on March 13 it was 88.8 lakh. In this sequence, the supply of petrol, diesel and cooking gas is completely safe and there is no shortage of any kind.

In a daily update issued by various ministries on the impact of the situation in West Asia, the share of online LPG booking has increased to about 87 per cent, which was earlier 84 per cent. This has been attributed to the campaign by oil marketing companies to promote digital booking and prevent people from standing in long queues at LPG dealerships and making excessive purchases.

The government said it will continue to prioritize the interests of domestic consumers and ensure uninterrupted supply of LPG, especially to households and priority sectors such as hospitals and educational institutions.

The central government said several states and union territories, including Bihar, Delhi, Haryana and Rajasthan, have issued instructions for allocation of non-domestic LPG. State governments are strictly monitoring and taking action to stop hoarding and black marketing of petrol, diesel and LPG.

In this sequence, citizens have been appealed not to panic while booking LPG as sufficient stock of petrol and diesel is available across the country. Supply of natural gas to priority sectors is being ensured. Commercial LPG cylinders have been made available for priority distribution to State Governments and are now available in 30 States and Union Territories.
It is mandatory for consumers with PNG connections to leave their domestic LPG connections.
Along with this, the government has amended the LPG Control Order, under which it has been made mandatory for consumers with PNG connections to leave their domestic LPG connections. Apart from this, citizens are being encouraged to use alternative energy like PNG. Domestic LPG production has been maximized and booking intervals have been determined appropriately to ensure equitable distribution.
