Central government gave relief, great news for farmers of 4 states
New Delhi. The Central Government has taken a big decision to provide relief to the farmers of the country. The government has approved the procurement of pulses and oilseed crops in four states with the aim of providing the benefit of Minimum Support Price (MSP). This purchase will be done under the Price Support Scheme (PSS). Its main objective is to provide fair price to the farmers for their produce and to save them from the situation of getting low prices in the market.
Farmers of which states will get the benefit?
Farmers of Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Haryana and Tamil Nadu will benefit from this decision of the Central Government. Government procurement of crops like moong, urad and groundnut will be done in these states. According to the Agriculture Minister, this step will provide economic strength to farmers producing pulses and oilseeds.
Biggest benefit to farmers of UP
This decision is considered very important for the farmers of Uttar Pradesh. For the summer 2026 season, procurement of about 48,298 MT of moong, about 97,970 MT of urad, about 41,718 MT of groundnut has been approved in the state. The total MSP price of these crops is said to be more than Rs 1,490 crore.
Purchase limit increased in Tamil Nadu
The government has also given relief to the farmers of Tamil Nadu. Moong purchase limit has been increased for Rabi marketing season 2025-26. Where earlier purchase was allowed up to 885 metric tonnes, now it has been increased to 990 metric tonnes. This will provide additional benefits to the farmers.
Relief to farmers of Gujarat and Haryana
Approval has been given to purchase about 18,250 metric tons of moong for the summer 2026 season in Gujarat. Its MSP price will be more than Rs 160 crore. At the same time, about 2,115 metric tons of moong will be purchased in Haryana, whose estimated MSP price is more than Rs 18 crore.
Farmers will not have to sell crops at cheap prices
With the start of government procurement at MSP, farmers will be less forced to sell their crops at lower prices. The government’s aim is to ensure that farmers get better value for their hard work and strengthen their farming income. This step of the Central Government is being considered important towards promoting the production of pulses and oilseeds and providing security to the farmers in the market.
