In this meeting, it has been decided to form a high level study group under the chairmanship of famous lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi for the development of Indian film industry. The group will include experts from the fields of cinema, technology and policy. The group will study the opportunities, challenges and future needs of the Indian film industry and submit a report to the central government within three months.

Advancement of modern technology

The government has also laid emphasis on the use of advanced technologies like artificial intelligence (AI) and virtual production in film production. Also, institutional financing for film production, new investment options and necessary measures will be taken to overcome the difficulties in raising funds.

‘Model Theater Rules’ for States

There are many hurdles in the process of setting up new theaters as the rules related to theaters in the country vary from state to state. The government has noticed that this is having a major impact, especially in small towns and rural areas.

To address this, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has formulated ‘Model State Cinema Rules’ in consultation with all concerned parties. All the State Governments have been directed to adopt these rules and the Central Government will provide necessary assistance to the States for their effective implementation.

It is hoped that these initiatives by the central government will provide the Indian film industry with modern technology, improved financial support and a more flexible regulatory regime.
