Central Government’s decision, 3 big projects of Railways approved
New Delhi. The Central Government has given green signal to three big multitracking projects to further strengthen the network of Indian Railways. These projects were approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the new office of PMO, Seva Tirtha. A total scheme worth Rs 12,236 crore was approved in the meeting.
Three big projects and their importance
The three multitracking projects that the Center has approved include:
1.Doubling of Jabalpur-Gondia Line
2.Third and fourth tracking of Punarkh-Kiul line
3.Third and fourth tracking of Gamharia-Chandel line
According to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav, a total of Rs 9,072 crore will be spent on these three projects.
Network and connectivity improvements
These projects will cover eight districts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand. After its completion, the railway network will increase by about 307 kilometers. According to an official statement, these projects will improve connectivity of about 5,407 villages, which have a population of about 98 lakh.
Relief in operations and congestion
Multi-tracking projects will make railway operations more streamlined. This will result in reduced congestion, increased punctuality of trains and improved convenience for both passengers and freight.
