Government is always trying to empower women. With the help of various schemes, the government is working with the sole aim of supporting women. One of them, the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ campaign aimed at empowering rural women economically, is now getting a boost with the digital platform ‘Lok OS’. According to a government brochure, the platform is making the campaign more effective by reaching a large number of beneficiaries, tracking their progress and monitoring them digitally.

Currently, a strong network of 6,611 Master Trainers, 4.09 lakh Community Resource Persons and 3.87 crore potential Lakhpati Didis has been created through ‘Lok OS’. In addition, 18.50 crore digital livelihood registers are also available on this platform, providing a strong digital foundation for livelihood planning, monitoring and implementation.
‘Lok OS’ is a modern digital platform developed under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihood Mission. It aims to digitize the entire operations of community-based organizations.
Its nationwide expansion has given a new impetus to the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ campaign promoting economic empowerment and financial inclusion of rural women. It is also playing an important role in building self-reliant rural communities.
According to government data, LokOS is enhancing transparency, better governance and efficiency through real-time monitoring and digital financial management. It effectively monitors the financial assistance given to community organizations. Till date, the platform has tracked Revolving Fund (RF) worth ₹9,718.41 crore, Community Investment Fund (CIF) worth ₹64,607.66 crore and Community Enterprise Fund (CEF) worth ₹38.34 crore.
Members’ registration, profile, savings, loans, repayments, financial transactions, livelihood activities and information related to various government schemes are also digitally recorded on LokOS. The platform currently covers 34 states/UTs, 762 districts, 7,241 talukas, 2.57 lakh gram panchayats and 5.92 lakh villages.
It provides both web and mobile applications. The web application is used by administrators, e-bookkeepers and transaction sanctioning officers to manage self-help groups, village associations, group-level federations and their members. The mobile application enables easy registration and monitoring of community organization activities at the field level.
