Chaitra Navratri 2026: Try Crispy & Healthy Sabudana Appe during the fast, it tastes great too!

Navratri fast is going on and during this time if you want light, tasty and healthy fruit food then Sabudana Appe is really a good option. These are made with less oil, keep the stomach light and taste excellent. Often we make sago poha or pakora. Which becomes a little more oily. In such a situation, sago appe is a very good fruit dish. So let us know the easy way to make it.

Material

  • Sabudana-1 cup
  • Potatoes-2 boiled
  • Roasted peanuts -½ cup (coarsely ground)
  • Green chilli-2-3 (finely chopped)
  • Ginger-1 small piece (grated)
  • Green Coriander – 2 tbsp
  • Rock salt – as per taste
  • Cumin-½ tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1–2 tsp
  • A little oil (for making appe)

Method

  • 1- First of all, wash the sago and soak it for 4–5 hours or overnight. Keep in mind that the water should be just enough for the sago to swell, do not add too much water.
  • 2- Mix boiled potatoes, peanuts, green chillies, ginger and green coriander in soaked sago.
  • 3-Now add rock salt, cumin and lemon juice and mix well. The mixture should be slightly sticky and binding.
  • 4- Heat the appe pan by applying a little oil. Put a little mixture in each groove. Cover on medium flame and cook for 5-7 minutes. When it turns golden brown from the bottom, turn it and cook the other side also.
  • 5- Serve hot appe with green chutney or curd. If you want, squeeze some lemon on top – the taste will increase even more.

tips

The sago should be well soaked and non-sticky. You can also use a little ghee to make it more crispy. If you do not eat onion and garlic during the fast (which you usually do not), then this recipe is perfect.
