Chaitra Navratri 2026:The sixth day of Chaitra Navratri is dedicated to Mother Katyayani. On this day, the sixth form of Goddess Durga is especially worshipped. According to mythological belief, Mother Durga was pleased with the harsh penance of Maharishi Katyayan and was born as a daughter in his ashram, hence she is known by the name Katyayani.

Mother Katyayani is considered the goddess of strength and courage. He killed Mahishasura in the nine days of Navratri, due to which he is also called Mahishasura Mardini.

Mother Katyayani has four arms. She holds weapons and a lotus in her hands and her vehicle is a lion. Mother Katyayani is considered to be the family deity of Braj. It is believed that the Gopis of Braj worshiped Lord Krishna to get him as their husband. For this reason, Mother Katyayani is considered the goddess who fulfills the wishes related to marriage.

Importance of Mother Katyayani

Mata Katyayani is worshiped especially to fulfill the desires related to marriage. It is believed that by his grace one gets a suitable and desired life partner. In astrology, Jupiter, the planet responsible for marriage, is also linked to Mother Katyayani.

Worshiping Maa Katyayani at dusk i.e. at sunset is considered especially auspicious. During this time the seeker should wear yellow or red colored clothes. Yellow flowers, yellow sweets and yellow naivedya should be offered to the mother during the puja.

Offering honey is considered extremely beneficial. Also, offering fragrant flowers removes obstacles in marriage. Chanting mother’s mantras or reciting Durga Saptashati after puja is auspicious.

Remedies for early marriage

Those girls who are not able to get married should wear yellow clothes and light a ghee lamp in front of Mother Katyayani in the twilight. After this, offer yellow flowers and three lumps of turmeric.

After this, chant this mantra at least 108 times-
"Katyayani Mahamaye Mahayoginyadhishwari, Nandagop Sutan Devi Pati Me Kuru Te Namah"

After the puja is over, tie the turmeric lumps in a yellow cloth and keep it with you or in the bedroom. By doing this, the chances of marriage become stronger and the chances of getting the desired life partner increases.
