Chaitra Navratri 2026: Worship of Shakti will start from March 19, know the auspicious time
According to the Hindu calendar, Chaitra Navratri starts every year from the Pratipada date of Shukla Paksha of Chaitra month. This year this holy festival is going to start from Thursday, March 19, 2026. On this day, Kalash will be established in every house to worship the nine forms of Goddess Durga. This time Navratri is very special from the religious point of view because many auspicious yogas are being formed on the very first day.
It is believed that Lord Shri Ram was born on the ninth day of Chaitra Navratri i.e. Mahanavami, which we celebrate with great enthusiasm as Ram Navami. Among the four Navratri (Shardiya, Chaitra and two Gupt Navratri) that come in the year, Chaitra Navratri has its own spiritual significance.

Two auspicious times for establishing Kalash
If you are observing a fast on this day and want to install the Kalash, then according to the Panchang you have two best options –
- Morning time: From 6:52 am to 7:43 am.
- Afternoon Muhurta (Abhijit Muhurta): From 12:05 pm to 12:53 pm.
- Those who will not be able to perform puja early in the morning, they can establish the Kalash in the afternoon time.
Very auspicious ‘yoga’ is being formed
On the first day of Navratri, there is a combination of Shukla Yoga and Brahma Yoga. Shukla Yoga will last till afternoon, after which Brahma Yoga will start. Apart from this, Sarvartha Siddhi Yoga will also be observed on the morning of the next day i.e. on 20th March, which is considered very good for the beginning of any auspicious work.
Keep in mind Rahu Kaal
Rahu period is not considered good for worship or any auspicious work. On March 19, Rahu period will be from 2:00 pm to 3:30 pm. Try not to perform your puja or Kalash installation during this time.
Pratipada start date: As of March 19, 2026, 6:52 am.
Pratipada date ends: As of March 20, 2026, 4:52 am.
