Chaitra Navratri: Tight security in Mata Vaishno Devi temple, court decorated with flowers for Navratri, new facilities also added

Katra/Jammu. In view of Chaitra Navratri, extensive security arrangements have been made on the route leading to Mata Vaishno Devi temple located on Trikuta hills. An official gave this information on Wednesday. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sachin Kumar Vaish said the entire temple area, including the building and surrounding premises, has been decorated with flowers ahead of the nine-day festival.

A huge crowd of pilgrims is expected to visit the temple during Navratri. Vaish told reporters at Katra, the base camp for the pilgrims, “The Shrine Board has made elaborate arrangements for the convenience, security and easy darshan of the devotees. This year the number of pilgrims has reached 15 lakh and it is believed that this number will increase further in the coming days.”

The CEO said that multi-layered security arrangements have been made with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Jammu and Kashmir Police, Shrine Board security staff and army personnel. He said an integrated command and control center is operational round the clock and high-tech CCTV cameras have been installed to continuously monitor the situation.

He said eight ‘Can I help you’ desks have been set up at different locations. The CEO informed that disabled devotees will be given priority and like previous years, they will be provided free battery car service and pony service. Vaishya said that this year some new facilities have also been added, like Sadhana room for meditation and Yagyashala for Havan.
