‘Chak De India’ director Shimit Amin to helm Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Captain India’
Mumbai: Kartik Aaryan has joined hands with T-Series for his next film ‘Captain India’. The project would be helmed by Shimit Amin, the director of ‘Chak De India’.
A source spoke to Bollywood Hungama regarding the film. “Captain India is written and produced by Harman Baweja. Now, T-Series has also joined as a producer, as they saw potential in the story, Kartik’s casting and Shimit Amin’s association as the director. The recce has been completed, and the film is expected to go floors in the second quarter of 2026,” they stated.
The film, all set to be filmed in India and Morocco, will witness the return of Shimit as a director after a gap of 17 years. He has helmed three films in the past, all of which gained a massive fan following. He directed Ab Tak Chappan in 2004, which was followed by SRK’s Indian Chak in 2007. His movie starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year, was released in 2009. Though it wasn’t a hit at the box office. Soon after it gained cult status.
Meanwhile, when Captain India was announced in 2021, Hansal Mehta was signed as the director. Kartik Aaryan plays the role of a pilot in the film. The story of the movie is inspired from one of India’s biggest rescue missions.

Kartik Aaryan and T-Series have had a long-standing professional relationship. They have collaborated in four movies; Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018), Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019), Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 (2024).
Kartik Aaryan and T-Series will also be collaborating on an untitled movie directed by Anurag Basu. It is slated for release towards the end of 2026.
Currently, the actor is filming Naagzilladirected by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba.
