Challenge to the supremacy of WhatsApp: Amazing chat backup feature introduced in indigenous Arattai app, now messages will not be deleted even after changing the phone – ..

News India Live, Digital Desk: India’s own indigenous app ‘Arattai’ is now all set to compete with WhatsApp in the world of instant messaging. This ‘Made in India’ app developed by Zoho Corporation has officially launched the much awaited ‘Chat Backup’ feature for its users. This update has gone live for both Android and iPhone platforms. After the introduction of this new feature, Arattai users will no longer have the fear of losing their old chats if they change phones or reinstall the app.

Chats and precious memories now safe on the cloud The biggest advantage of this latest update of Aarttai is that now users will be able to take secure cloud backup of their personal chats, photos, videos and important documents. According to Zoho, Android users will be able to save their data on ‘Google Drive’, while for iPhone users the option of ‘iCloud’ has been given. The company has ensured that this backup will be completely end-to-end encrypted, which means that no one other than the user, not even the company, will be able to read these messages.

This is how the new chat backup feature will work To use this feature, users must first update their app to the latest version from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. After this, go to ‘Settings’ of the app and select ‘Chats’ option, where a new option of ‘Chat Backup’ will appear. Users can also set the frequency of backup (Daily, Weekly or Monthly) as per their convenience. Additionally, it also has the option of ‘Auto Backup’, which will automatically save your data on the cloud as soon as Wi-Fi is available.

Arattai emerged as an alternative to WhatsApp In Tamil language ‘Arattai’ means ‘gossip’ or ‘chat’. Launched in the year 2021, this app has gained immense popularity during 2025-26 due to its privacy policies and indigenous identity. Recently the company has also made it available on Android TV, so that video calling is now possible on the big screen as well. Experts believe that after adding features like backup and encryption, Arattai is now in a position to give tough competition to global giants like WhatsApp and Telegram.

Zoho’s emphasis on data security and privacy Sridhar Vembu, founder of Zoho Corporation, has always emphasized on data sovereignty. All the data of Aarttai is stored in India only, which makes it more reliable than foreign apps. The new update not only provides backup facility, but the interface of the app has also been made faster and more responsive than before. The company aims to provide a better chatting experience even at low internet speeds in remote areas of India.
