PCB bowed before BCCI, agreed to accept hybrid model, put these conditions

A big news has come out regarding ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board is ready to accept the hybrid model for next year's Champions Trophy if the ICC implements the same policy for all ICC events scheduled till 2031.

Due to the stance of the PCB and its chairman Mohsin Naqvi that Pakistan will not accept the hybrid model, the schedule of the upcoming 50-over tournament has not been announced yet with less than three months left for the tournament to begin .

India refused to go to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy due to security reasons, after which the PCB said that it would not play any matches outside Pakistan. Then, the ICC suggested a hybrid model, but Pakistan said it was not acceptable. The PCB chairman also said that India not playing cricket in Pakistan is not acceptable.

“The Pakistan Cricket Board is willing to accept a hybrid model for next year's Champions Trophy and play India in Dubai if the ICC implements the same policy for all its events till 2031,” a PCB source told PTI. Is.” Some reports also say that the Pakistan Cricket Board has sought to increase its annual ICC income, which is currently 5.75%, as well as increase the hosting rights fee, which is currently Rs 65 million.

There are four ICC tournaments that India will host till 2031, and some of them will also have India as co-host. India, along with Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, will host the ICC Men's T20 World Cup in 2026 and the ICC Cricket World Cup in 2031. Therefore, there will be no problem in approving the hybrid model for these tournaments, as Pakistan can play its matches in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. However, the real problem will be in the 2025 ICC Women's Cricket World Cup and the 2029 ICC Men's Champions Trophy, as these tournaments will be played entirely in India.

The ICC Meeting Board met on Friday, 29 November to discuss matters related to the marquee tournament to be hosted by Pakistan. The meeting lasted only 15 minutes and BCCI received support from all ICC board members on its hybrid model stance. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board was against it and was adamant on holding the entire competition on home soil.

After this, a clear message was given to all the board members that a new meeting would be held only after the PCB accepts the hybrid model. The PCB was left alone and given the option of accepting the hybrid model or opting out of the competition and losing the hosting rights. Meanwhile, recently Mohsin Naqvi met Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) chief Mubasher Usmani to discuss Champions Trophy issues.
