ICC happy with the preparations for Champions Trophy 2025 to be held in Pakistan, board members called to investigate

Islamabad : The International Cricket Council (ICC) is happy with the preparations for the Champions Trophy to be held in Pakistan next year. Expressed satisfaction considering the report and information about the preparations presented by the officials of Pakistan Cricket Board as adequate. At the same time, PCB has also invited ICC Board members to Pakistan to review the preparations, so that better arrangements can be made with their suggestions.

According to information received from Geo News, the preparations were revealed in the ICC meeting on Monday, in which PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi was also present. During the meeting held regarding the Champions Trophy 2025, PCB officials assured the ICC Board members that the work of improving the three stadiums hosting the matches of this mega event will be completed within the stipulated time.

Naqvi has also invited ICC Board members to Pakistan to review the preparations for the tournament. The Champions Trophy will start in Pakistan next year, but there are some challenges that need to be addressed.

Series did not happen after 2013

There is uncertainty regarding India going to Pakistan for this mega event. India has not played any cricket tournament in Pakistan since the 2008 Asia Cup due to strained relations between the two countries due to terrorism. The series played in India from December 2012 to January 2013 was the last bilateral series between the two countries. Since then the two countries have met only in ICC tournaments and the Asia Cup.

Pakistan visited India thrice

Pakistan, on the other hand, has toured India on three occasions since the 2008 Asia Cup. Recently, reports of the International Cricket Council (ICC) considering three options regarding hosting the Champions Trophy started emerging. According to sources, ICC wants to either organize the tournament in Pakistan itself or in both Pakistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) under a hybrid model. According to this hybrid model, India and the knockout stage matches will be held in Dubai.

Apart from this, the third option regarding the event is that the entire tournament should be organized outside Pakistan, in which Dubai, Sri Lanka or South Africa can be the possible hosts. Pakistan has not hosted any major International Cricket Council (ICC) event since the 1996 ODI World Cup, which it co-hosted with India and Sri Lanka.
