Champions Trophy 2025: BCCI-PCB dispute is not stopping, Pakistan added another twist to the existing dispute

The Champions Trophy schedule has still not been released and there are still differences between BCCI-PCB. Many reports say that Pakistan has agreed to the hybrid model, but has put forward some demands.
Agreement on hybrid model after long negotiations
The first controversy arose when the BCCI refused to allow the Indian national team to travel to Pakistan for the Champions Trophy. In turn, the PCB took a tough stance and demanded that the tournament be held entirely in Pakistan. However, after lengthy discussions, the PCB agreed to the hybrid model, where matches were to be played both in Pakistan and at neutral venues.
Major demands made by PCB
As part of this deal, the PCB decided on a formula for cooperation. As per the agreement, Pakistan will participate in all ICC events hosted by India, except one event where India and Sri Lanka are hosting the 2026 T20 World Cup. If the deal is finalized, it will be played in Sri Lanka instead of India.
In a new twist, PCB rejected BCCI's financial assistance.
According to the Express Tribune report, the BCCI had offered financial assistance to the PCB to compensate the financial loss suffered by Pakistan due to India's refusal to play in Pakistan. However, the PCB turned down the offer to preserve national pride and act out of revenge. This stance of the board shows that they are serious and want to bring a level playing field between the two countries.
Champions Trophy schedule delayed
The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy schedule has been delayed due to differences between the BCCI and the PCB. But according to reports, the program is going to be published in the next few days. The three-year partnership agreement between the two boards will not be officially announced along with the programme, but will be confirmed soon.
ICC approved hybrid model
The tournament is likely to begin on February 19, while the final will be held on March 9. According to this plan, 10 matches to be played under the championship will be played in Pakistan and the entire match between India and Pakistan in the competition will be held in Dubai. If India reaches the semi-finals, the knockout stages will be held in Dubai or Pakistan.
