Change in the working style of UP Police: Citizens are getting FIR and 27 services sitting at home without going to the police station, UP Cop App becomes Sarathi.

Lucknow, 12 January. The method of policing in Uttar Pradesh has changed rapidly during the tenure of Yogi government. Under smart policing started on the basis of technology, UP Police’s UPCop app and citizen portal is now emerging as a digital alternative to the police station for the common man. Through the app, citizens are getting 27 types of police services from filing FIR sitting at home without going to the police station, which has brought great relief to the people from repeatedly visiting the police station.

  • ‘On the instructions of CM Yogi, policing was linked to technology’

Director General of Police (DGP) Rajiv Krishna said that on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, technology was effectively added to make policing people-centric, transparent and accountable. The result of this is that UPCop App is working as a ‘Digital Police Station’ today. He said that with the advent of the app, not only the services have become easier, but the time taken for disposal has also reduced considerably.

  • Citizens are getting these facilities

According to the DGP, important facilities like filing FIR online, downloading FIR copy, filing report of lost luggage, character verification, tenant verification, domestic help verification and employee verification are available on UPCop app. Till now more than 50 lakh people have downloaded this app. More than 2.1 crore copies of FIR have been downloaded through the app and more than 7.3 lakh people have filed online reports of lost goods.

  • App available in both Hindi and English languages: DGP

To make UPcop App more convenient, real time notification has been added to it, so that the status of the application is known immediately. This app is available in both Hindi and English languages. The SOS button and location tracking have been upgraded to help in case of emergencies. Apart from this, the facility to see the nearest police station on the map has also been provided, which is proving helpful in times of crisis.

  • Time is being saved: DGP

DGP said that there has been a huge saving of time in the verification processes. Character verification is now being completed in about 6 days, tenant verification in about 8 days and employee verification in about 5 days, whereas earlier these services used to take many times more time. Rajeev Krishna said that technology based services are making policing more accountable and the objective of smart policing is to provide quick justice and relief to the citizens.
