Channing Tatum, Dave Bautista, and more to star alongside Cate Blanchett in Alpha Gang
The Zellner brothers’ upcoming alien invasion comedy Alpha Gangstarring and produced by Cate Blanchett, has gained momentum with the reveal of its impressive cast.
Joining Blanchett are Dave Bautista, Steven Yeun, Zoë Kravitz, Léa Seydoux, Riley Keough, and Channing Tatum. The story follows a team of alien invaders disguised as a 1950s leather-clad biker gang, the Alpha Gang, sent to conquer Earth. Their mission takes an unexpected turn as they begin experiencing human emotions, the most contagious and destabilizing condition of all. Alpha Gang builds on the Zellners’ previous Sundance success, Sasquatch Sunset.
The Zellner brothers are producing for ZBi, alongside Blanchett and Coco Francini for Dirty Films, Gina Gammell for Felix Culpa, Ryan Zacarias for Fat City, Mary Aloe for Aloe Entertainment, and Andrea Bucko for Sugar Rush Pictures.
Blanchett, a two-time Oscar winner, leads as the Alpha Gang’s formidable commander, while the newly announced cast members portray other gang members.
Set in a heightened reality blending the familiar with the surreal, Alpha Gang will be shot by cinematographer Mike Gioulakis, known for his collaborations with Jordan Peele, M Night Shyamalan, and David Robert Mitchell, and who also worked on Sasquatch Sunset.
Filming for Alpha Gang is set to begin in spring 2025. The film is presented by Rabbits Black, with executive producers Sean Krajewski, Ronnie Exley, Lawrence Minicone, and Jeremy Ross, alongside Tyler Peters and Sophie Curtis of Electric Void, Tom Ogden, and Partners in Kind’s Gillian Hormel and Shelly Tygielski.
Bautista (Guardians of the Galaxy, Dune) was recently in Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirland Tatum (Deadpool & Wolverine) is fresh off Blink Twicedirected by Kravitz (The Batman), who is now filming Darren Aronofsky’s Caught Stealing.
Kravitz is joined by Mad Max: Fury Road co-star Riley Keough (Daisy Jones & the Six), reuniting after working together in the Zellners’ Sasquatch Sunset. Seydoux (No Time To Die, Blue Is the Warmest Color) recently starred in Second Act and Dune 2 as Lady Margo Fenring, while Steven Yeun (Beef, to the pain), a Golden Globe and Emmy winner, will soon appear in Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi black comedy Mickey 17.
