Chaos and celebration together in Bengal election trends: BJP-TMC workers clash in Dinhata, meanwhile, Mamata Banerjee’s big statement

Kolkata. Political tension is continuously increasing in the state amid the counting of votes for the West Bengal Assembly Elections 2026. There has been news of a clash between Trinamool Congress (TMC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) workers in Dinhata, due to which the situation became tense for some time.

On the other hand, senior BJP leader and former MP Dilip Ghosh is leading in Kharagpur Sadar seat of West Medinipur. In the initial trends, he has got 6,229 votes, while TMC’s Pradeep Sarkar is trailing with 3,073 votes. A total of 19 rounds are to be counted on this seat, out of which one round has just been completed.

This seat is also considered important because both Dilip Ghosh and Pradeep Sarkar have previously been MLAs from this area. The CPI(M) candidate is currently in third place.

Mamta Banerjee’s statement-
Amidst the counting of votes, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has appealed to her party workers and agents not to leave the counting centre. He claimed that TMC is ahead in many seats, but its true position is not being revealed.

Mamata Banerjee said that only the initial round of counting has been done and one should wait till the final results. He also alleged that the entire process is under the influence of central forces and his party is prepared for every situation.

Celebration at BJP headquarters in Kolkata-
On the other hand, an atmosphere of celebration is visible outside the BJP office in Kolkata. Party workers are excited as initial trends show BJP leading on 173 seats, which seems to be going beyond the majority mark.
Supporters are celebrating the victory amid drums and slogans, although the situation is not completely clear until the final results are announced.

Both tension and excitement-
While on one hand incidents of tension and clashes are being reported in many parts of the state, on the other hand there is an atmosphere of celebration in the BJP camp. As the counting of votes progresses, the political picture of West Bengal is becoming more exciting.
